On March 13 (yesterday), at 17h30, there was a ceremony of stone laying in the Emigrant Square, through the Casa do Povo da Ribeira Grande, an event that honored the emigrant woman.
This was a ceremony rich in symbolism, where not only all the emigrant women were celebrated, but also all the young emigrants and young people from the islands.
This day also counted with the presence of Mr. President Albano Melo Garcia, President of the Casa do Povo da Ribeira Grande, as well as with the presence of the Regional Director of Communities and regional deputies, emigrants, children of the ATL’s of CPRG and their respective employees and with traditional Azorean music, which was in charge of the guitarist Ricardo Melo.
Here are some photos of the ceremony and the respective stone laying in the Emigrant Square. On behalf of the Azorean Emigrants Association and its respective Emigrant Square, we would like to thank the invitation and congratulate those involved for the initiative and ceremony.
