WORLD ARCHITECTURE DAY: EMIGRANT SQUARE, A MONUMENT TO THE AZOREAN EMIGRANTS

5 de October, 2021

In Ribeira Grande there was already the Azorean Emigration Museum and with this project of the Emigrant Square, the Association of the Azorean Emigrants wanted to connect directly with the azorean emigrants spread around the world!

The piece of art of the Square is Saudades da Terra, with the globe from Luís Silva. In the floor we have the fantastic desgin from Luke Marston Shore to Shore.

Another unique area in the Square is the Calçada dos Mundos of Liliana Lopes.

Near the ocean, we have the mural with the flags of the most significant countries in our Diaspora. On the other wall, we have a space dedicated to all those who want to leave a message of appreciation to our emigrants and where everyone can participate.
