The language is a big fundamental piece to claim the Azorean Identity! Our emigrants are the proof of this, and an institution that has done a lot to preserve and also study the Portuguese language in the Azores and works of azorean authors is the University of the Azores!
It’s to highlight the many studies that have been made by this University about our azorean emigrants and their adventures through the various corners of the world!
This institution was founded in 1976 and consists in one of the biggest strongholds of the autonomy of the Azores and it’s distributed for 3 places in 3 islands, namely in Horta (Faial), Angra do Heroísmo (Terceira) and Ponta Delgada (São Miguel).
