There is much to do in the Azores during the summer months, there is more beyond the beautiful beaches and bathing areas, and we highlight the pedestrian trails, through which it is possible to discover wonderful places that are often not in the travel plans of those who visit us.

Today, get to know some hiking trails on the island of São Miguel that you can do this summer, all safely and with the respective signposting.

We highlight the Gorreana Tea Route Trail in Ribiera Grande that takes you on a walk through the long tea plantations of Gorreana, the oldest tea plantation in Europe. The Salto do Cabrito Trail, starting in the area of the boilers of Ribeira Grande is one of the best known, which takes us to the Salto do Cabrito waterfall, where it is possible to bathe. On the way, we find two hydroelectric power plants. In the parish of Lomba de São Pedro, there is the Moinho do Félix Trail, where we find three beautiful waterfalls and the ruins of the Félix mill with very typical structures of the municipality of Ribeira Grande.

In Faial da Terra, the Sanguinho trail is one of the most sought after on the island, where the main point is the wonderful waterfall, where to reach it we pass through the village of Sanguinho. In this small and rustic village, we find typical houses, small farms and several specimens of Sanguinho (Frangula azorica), endemic plant of the Azores that gives its name to the place.
