Here at the Association of Azorean Emigrants we are always studying and researching in order to learn more about Azorean emigration !!
This week we had another interview for the making of a documentary on emigration and aviation in the Azores, made by the doctoral historian Sérgio Rezendes with the Azorean, historian and professor of History at the University of the Azores, Ph.D Susana Serpa Silva!
In the conversation with the historian Sérgio Rezendes, Susana Serpa Silva spoke a little about Azorean emigration to Brazil, since the first emigrants to go to this country, talking not only about legal emigration but also about illegal emigration. It also addressed the issue of Azorean emigration to places such as Hawaii, Bermuda, and also to Canada and the United States, and about the US she addressed the time from the departure of azoreans in American whaling ships to the great wave of emigration in the 60s, 70s and 80s of the last century!
