It was not easy to manage that day-to-day. Normality can also be a problem. And for Julia it was: a big problem. Routine irritated her, it was just one more day every day.
Until an invitation came along that could change everything: and it did. As a history teacher, Julia was invited by the municipality of Ribeira Grande, on the island of São Miguel, in the Azores, to teach a course about the history of that land. The traditions and cultures of that land would be the basis of her new work.
Having Azorean roots, the teacher went on an adventure and into a new experience. The island became a perfect place to live, even more so when she met Afonso, a renowned Azorean historian, who could change her life. But everything changed again when she discovered he was a widower; for some strange reason she had never told him this fact. However, even he doesn’t really know the truth of the story: his dead wife decides to reappear and comes back with a son in her arms.
Between secrets that Julia also has and obligations that Afonso can’t escape, the story builds to a crescendo.
It all culminates on the day of the biggest festivities in Ribeira Grande, the Cavalhadas de São Pedro, when the knots are tied and Julia and Afonso discover all the truths lost in the recesses of this story.
