VOICE OF PORTUGAL NEWSPAPER

Voz de Portugal” is the oldest Portuguese newspaper in Canada. The first publication of this weekly newspaper dates back to April 25, 1961. Based in Montreal, this newspaper of centrist political philosophy gained credibility among its readers, mirroring the feelings of the majority of Montreal’s Portuguese. This itinerary has never changed to this day, even after the Red Carnation Revolution. Counting on the devoted work of Portuguese emigrants and Luso-descendants in Canada, “Voz de Portugal” continues to faithfully serve the Portuguese diaspora in that country.

Given the fundamental contribution of “A Voz de Portugal” to the preservation of the Portuguese heritage in Canada, the Azorean Emigrants Association, in July 2021, took great pleasure in awarding the Azores of a Thousand Islands Prize to this remarkable entity, in the first edition of the event with the same name, which aims to honour institutions and personalities that elevate the name of the Azores within the Azorean communities.
