SUMMER 2021: DIRECT FLIGHTS BERMUDA-PONTA DELGADA!

19 de November, 2020

The first Portuguese emigrants arrived in Bermuda in 1849 and were from Madeira, but in the following years the Portuguese community there began to increase especially with people from the Azores, and today 25% of the population of Bermuda have Azorean and Portuguese ancestors. The Azoreans initially worked as farmers and workers while today they work more in the areas of gardening, tourism and construction.

Bermuda is one of the places in the world with the most Azorean emigrants today! This year, taking into account the COVID-19 crisis, some flights were carried out during the summer and Christmas in order to take and bring people from Bermuda.

Next year, in the summer of 2021, Azores Airlines will fly direct flights between Bermuda and Ponta Delgada once a week, while before they had to pass through the USA or Canada, which made the trip very tiring!

Good news are coming soon for all Azorean emigrants in Bermuda as well as for their families!
