Today is World Science for Peace and Development Day and we decided to dedicate our publication today to the American scientist Craig Mello!
Craig Mello is of Azorean descent, his great-grandparents from the parish of Maia on the island of São Miguel!
In 1982 he obtained a bachelor’s degree in biochemistry from Brown University and in 1990 he obtained his doctorate in cell and developmental biology from Harvard University.
In 1994 he was appointed professor of molecular biology at Massachusetts University, teaching to the present day at Worcester School of Medicine.
In 2005 he was elected a member of the American Academy of Sciences and in 2006 he received the Nobel of Medicine!
