AZOREANS IN THE VIETNAM WAR

Have you ever heard of the Vietnam War? The Vietnam War was a war that spanned the countries of Vietnam, Laos and Cambodia and lasted from November 1, 1955 until April 30, 1975.

It was a war in particular between North Vietnam and South Vietnam, with the North being supported by countries like USSR, China, North Korea, etc., and the South being supported by USA, South Korea, Australia, etc.

Did you know that many Azoreans served in this war in the United States? Many Azoreans who had emigrated to the USA served in the Vietnam War! Men like Dinis Oliveira, Henry Mello, Horácio Manuel de Sousa Almeida, José Urbano Almeida, José Valadão Sousa, Lúcio Serpa, Manuel Botelho Tavares, Manuel Bráulio da Costa Fontes, Victor do Couto and others!
