MAIOS IN THE EMIGRANT SQUARE

Today, May 1st, Labor Day, it is an Azorean custom to perform “Maios” that satirize daily life, which are placed on the doors of homes, gardens and streets.
The Praça do Emigrante (Emigrant Square) was not forgotten, and it also has a beautiful scenery with Maios. This was an initiative promoted by Santa Casa da Misericórdia da Ribeira Grande, which is to be congratulated, as well as all its collaborators for another work done in favor of Azorean traditions.
