Here on the Azorean Emigrants Association we are always studying and researching to know more about the azorean emigration!!
This week we had one more interview for the realization of a documentary about the emigration and the aviation in the Azores, made by the Ph.D Historian Sérgio Rezendes with the azorean, Mr. Laureano Almeida!
Mr. Laureano Almeida started to make an internship in SATA in the 50’s and for 13 years he worked in Santana, after which, in the year of 1969 the airport moved to Nordela in Ponta Delgada, and he accumulated a total of more than 40 years of career at SATA! He told us several details about the aerodrome of Santana, namely the inauguration of the aerodrome, the foreign military presence, the planes that landed here, the runways that existed, the service he provided to his company and also the countless emigrants who left from here in search of fulfilling your dreams and having a better life !!
