“The book began to take shape from the articles I published on Raul Brandão’s famous travel book, The Unknown Islands, and a set of poems and essays by Vitorino Nemésio that establish dialogues with the literary genre of Aesop’s fables and medieval bestiaries. In the wake of these two articles, they are joined by the essay I wrote about Daniel de Sá’s novel Ilha Grande Fechada. In turn, these articles served as the theme and the starting point for the Itinerances of Azoreanity Theoretical Workshops. I presented the workshops on the nine islands of the Azores archipelago between the years 2017 and 2019. In this arc of time, I lived with generous people who supported the realization of my post-doctoral research. Fertile conviviality that beyond the realization of the workshops resulted in the recording of testimonies that make up the identity narratives and the analyses of the memories of Azorean Videographies.”
