Portuguese Folklore & Guinness World Record

The Mississauga Portuguese Cultural Centre will be the official host of an attempt to break GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS™ for the title of “Greatest Portuguese Folk Dance”. This attempt will take place on Sunday, June 5, 2022 from 4pm until 9pm Azores time, kicking off Portuguese Heritage Month. The Official Attempt will formally start at 6pm. The current record is 774 people performing simultaneously a Portuguese folk dance for 5 minutes. The goal in this attempt is to have 850 people dance the very traditional and well known “Vira”, also known as the Portuguese Waltz, simultaneously for 7 minutes in total.
