EXHIBITION RUNNING UNTIL JUNE 18
The Gallery of the Municipal Culture Centre of Ponta Delgada will host the exhibition Space for the body, by the Serralves Foundation, curated by Joana Valsassina.
The exhibition Space for the body presents a set of works by Portuguese and international artists who question the body as a creative and perceptive agent, exploring its relationship with space and time, with movement and absence, with architecture and intimacy. The exhibition focuses on the work of women artists who contribute to deepening a reflection around space and the body and to contesting its limits, exploring, on the one hand, the formal, phenomenological and conceptual contours of this theme, and on the other, its personal, social and political implications.
The exhibition is part of the Itinerant Exhibitions Programme of the Serralves Collection and includes works by Adelina Lopes, Ana Jotta, Anna Bella Geiger, Armanda Duarte, Cristina Mateus, Dara Birnbaum, Helena Almeida, Lourdes Castro, Patrícia Garrido, Rita McBride, Sanja Iveković and Susana Mendes Silva.
