BRUMA – LARGEST FESTIVAL OF PORTUGUESE POETRY IN THE NORTH AMERICAN WORLD

The Portuguese Beyond Borders Institute (PBBI) at California State University in Fresno is holding its third poetry festival until April 30. The festival will be featured on various social media platforms and on Fresno State-PBBI’s YouTube channel. The festival is called Bruma, the name of the new publishing house that the university in Fresno created in 2021, and is attended by poets, writers of various literary genres, academics and poetry lovers in several Portuguese-speaking countries, as well as the Portuguese and Lusophone diaspora in North America.

This April there is also a poetry reading from the series dedicated to Alfred Lewis, with emigrant poets and Luso-descendants: João Martins, Marian Carreia, Rose Angelina Baptista, Millicent Borges Accardi and Cape Verdean poet Vera Duarte.

PBBI is supported by several organizations, most notably the Luso-American Development Foundation (FLAD).
