18 de January, 2024

Yesterday, January 17, the President of the Association of Azorean Emigrants, Dr. Andrea Moniz-DeSouza was present, on behalf of the Association of Azorean Emigrants, at the presentation of Dr. José Andrade’s latest book “Transatlântico II, Açorianidade e Interculturalidade”, at the Public Library and Regional Archive of Ponta Delgada.

In this book, Dr. José Andrade takes us on a literary adventure about the importance of Azorean identity in the Diaspora and the diversity of cultures in the Azores.

Dr. Andrea had the opportunity to speak about a topic of importance to both herself and the Association of Azorean Emigrants: Azorean Identity in the Diaspora.

As an emigrant, Dr. Andrea says that this is a deep and personal journey that shapes the identity, resilience and outlook on life of all emigrants. The emigrant’s heart carries the weight of nostalgia, and preserves memories and traditions, while embracing the excitement of discovering and integrating into a new culture.

This duality creates a unique emotional landscape.

From the Azorean Emigrants Association, we would like to congratulate Dr. José Andrade on another sublime book and wish him every success. We would also like to thank Carlos Sousa from CS Criações for his wonderful coverage.
