These beautiful islands located in the central group of the Azores archipelago are endowed with a unique natural beauty and it is possible to explore them through their trails.
In the white island, named Graciosa, there is a trail called Volta à Caldeira- Furna do Enxofre, which is a route around the Natural Monument of Caldeira da Graciosa, which includes a visit to the famous Furna do Enxofre, a lava cave inside. The Grande Rota is another trail that allows us to go round almost the whole island in a circular route, where we can enjoy the landscapes along the coastline and also the volcanic landscapes in the interior of the island.
In Faial we have the opportunity to visit the Caldeira do Faial, a protected landscape of the central part of the island, which is inserted in the Caldeira trail. This caldera is 2 kilometres in diameter and was formed through numerous eruptions, interspersed with periods of calm. The Rocha da Fajã trail is part of an area protected for the management of habitats or species of Capelinhos, the Northwest Coast and Varadouro. This is a trail that also takes us to Fajã da Praia do Norte where there are wine plantations, wineries and summer houses.
