Have you heard of the mountain on the island of Pico? It is a stratovolcano with 2,351 meters (7713 feet) of altitude and constitutes the highest mountain in Portugal! Pico Mountain is a recent volcano in geological terms, and consists of lava flows with many basalts and projection materials. The climbing of this mountain is something very practiced by tourists when they visit the island of Pico!
In addition to the great mountain this island has great people! Did you know that in addition to their whaling past, many people from Pico went to Brazil in 1700’s to colonize Brazil?
