The most visited café/bar of the Azores, Peter Café Sport, is located in the historical centre of the city of Horta on the island of Faial. Since 1918 Peter Café Sport has been an establishment selling drinks and handicrafts in front of Horta’s marina, becoming a mandatory stop for sailors arriving in Horta from all over the world.
Peter Café Sport, previously known as Azorean House, was a handicraft bazaar, dedicated to the commerce of local products. Later it adopted the name Café Sport and started selling drinks, becoming one of the most notorious bars in the Azores. It is known for its decoration with flags and nautical objects that give it a unique look. Since 2000 it has received several distinctions, among which the medal of Commercial and Tourist Merit from the Secretary of State.
In 1986, Newsweek magazine considered it among the best bars in the world, and it is an honorary member of the OCC (Ocean Crusing Club) and CTT.
