“No ano de 2018, ao longo de várias semanas, o Jornal “Atlântico Expresso”, da Ilha de São Miguel, publicou uma série de crónicas que escrevi sobre a Viola da Terra.
Histórias, características, contextos, intervenientes, afinações, técnicas, simbologia, eventos, diferenças, semelhanças… são tudo informações que importa dar a conhecer, divulgar e debater.
Veio depois o sonho de reunir estes artigos em livro. Algumas crónicas fundiram-se por abordarem temáticas comuns, outras foram revistas para transmitir uma realidade mais atual.
Espero que estas crónicas possam ajudar a que se conheça, respeite e compreenda um pouco melhor a nossa Viola e o seu importante papel na nossa Cultura Açoriana.”

“In the year 2018, over several weeks, the newspaper “Atlântico Expresso”, from São Miguel Island, published a series of chronicles I wrote about the Viola da Terra.
Histories, characteristics, contexts, players, tunings, techniques, symbology, events, differences, similarities… this is all information that is important to make known, disseminate and discuss.
Then came the dream of gathering these articles into a book. Some chronicles were merged because they address common themes, others were revised to transmit a more current reality.
I hope that these chronicles can help to know, respect and understand a little better our Guitar and its important role in our Azorean Culture”.
