Não era fácil gerir aquele dia-a-dia. A normalidade também pode ser um problema. E para Júlia era: um problema dos grandes. A rotina irritava-a, era só mais um cada dia que nascia.
Até que surgiu aquele convite que poderia mudar tudo: e mudou. Enquanto professora de História, Júlia foi convidada pelo concelho da Ribeira Grande, na ilha de São Miguel, nos Açores, para leccionar um curso sobre a História daquela terra. As tradições e culturas daquela terra seriam a base do seu novo trabalho.
Tendo raízes açorianas, a professora foi ao encontro de uma aventura e de uma nova experiência. A ilha tornou-se um lugar perfeito para viver, muito mais quando conheceu Afonso, um historiador de renome açoriano, que lhe poderia mudar a vida. Mas tudo mudou, novamente, quando ela o descobriu viúvo, pois, por algum motivo estranho, nunca lhe contara aquele facto. No entanto, nem ele sabe bem a verdade da história: a falecida mulher decide reaparecer e volta com um filho nos braços.
Entre segredos que, também, Júlia tem e obrigações a que Afonso não consegue fugir, a história vai acontecendo num crescendo.
Tudo culmina no dia das maiores festas da Ribeira Grande, as Cavalhadas de São Pedro, quando os laços dão os nós e Júlia e Afonso descobrem todas as verdades perdidas nos recantos desta história.

It was not easy to manage that day-to-day. Normality can also be a problem. And for Julia it was: a big problem. The routine irritated her, it was just another day.
Until an invitation came along that could change everything: and it did. As a history teacher, Julia was invited by the municipality of Ribeira Grande, on the island of São Miguel, in the Azores, to teach a course about the history of that region. The traditions and cultures of that land would be the basis of her new work.
Having Azorean roots, the teacher went on an adventure and a new experience. The island became a perfect place to live, even more so when she met Afonso, a renowned Azorean historian, who could change her life. But everything changed again when she discovered he was a widower, as for some strange reason she had never told him this fact. However, not even he knows the truth of the story: his dead wife decides to reappear and returns with a son in her arms.
Between secrets that Julia also has and obligations that Afonso cannot escape, the story builds up.
It all culminates on the day of the biggest festivities in Ribeira Grande, the Cavalhadas de São Pedro, when the knots are tied and Júlia and Afonso discover all the truths lost in the recesses of this story.
