The Department of Art & Design, along with the Saab Center for Portuguese Studies at UMass Lowell are proud to present an exhibition of artwork by selected students from the Spring 2022 study abroad trip to the Azores Islands on March 8 (Wednesday) from 5:30 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. in Moloney Hall, University Crossing (220 Pawtucket St Lowell, MA 01854, USA).
The photographs are part of a visual exploration done during a course entitled ARTS.3982 Study Abroad / Photography in the Azores, conceived and organized by Anna Isaak-Ross and Pavel Romaniko.
The students researched the origins of the Azorean diaspora in Lowell, Massachusetts, as well as the heritage, histories, and culture of its people. They then used their findings as a springboard for photographic exploration of four islands in the archipelago: São Miguel, Faial, Pico, and São Jorge.
The photographs featured in the exhibition are by Erin Nelson, Courtney Coviello, Nathaly Mateo Pena, Michael Page, Lisett Cordoba Pren, Bryan Fernandez, Jack Hannibal, Erin Kerr, Bryan Fernandez, Kassy Tiburcio, Kathy Le, Lara Ansaldi, Anna Isaak-Ross, Pedro Letria, and Pavel Romaniko.
Come join this wonderful exhibition and see, through a different perspective, some of the islands of the Azores Archipelago!
