In this process, the tutelary figure of the puppet artist Lu\u00eds da Luz Gouveia, who influenced by intellectuals who were part of the regionalist movement &#8211; namely the ethnographer Armando C\u00f4rtes-Rodrigues, the ethnologist Francisco Carreiro da Costa and the painter Domingos Rebelo, took on a prominent role &#8211; introduces regional pictures in the crib. It is in this context that the religiosity of the Azorean people, expressed in Lenten pilgrimages, in processions and in the festivities of Esp\u00edrito Santo, as well as rural experiences, started to integrate the themes evident in the nativity scenes produced locally.<\/div><\/div><div class=\"x11i5rnm xat24cr x1mh8g0r x1vvkbs xtlvy1s x126k92a\"><div dir=\"auto\">in
