Am\u00e1lia Rodrigues was born on July 23rd<\/sup> of 1920. Known as the queen of Fado, Am\u00e1lia spread the name of Portugal all over the world and sold more than 30 million records, 3 times the population of Portugal!<\/p>

Did you know Am\u00e1lia Rodrigues came to the Azores and performed in 1953, arriving on S\u00e3o Miguel, to the aerodrome of Santana on March 20th<\/sup> of the same year?<\/p>

The aerodrome of Santana was created in 1939 and was the first airport in S\u00e3o Miguel, installed in Santana, Ribeira Grande and until 1945 it was a military airport, becoming a civil airport from 1946.<\/p>

In 1941 SATA (Service of the Azorean Air Transports) was founded and on June 15th<\/sup> of 1947 happened the inauguration of the first commercial flight between Santa Maria and S\u00e3o Miguel, and this airport made the connection between the airport of Lajes and with the international airport of Santa Maria, and from Santana many emigrants from S\u00e3o Miguel emigrated in the past!<\/p><\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
