The Lenten pilgrimages were, without a doubt, one of the cultural manifestations that stood out thanks to Tabico’s action. Having participated in 59 pilgrimages, he was the great promoter and responsible for organising these pilgrimages in Canada, as well as bringing groups of emigrant faithful to the island of São Miguel to take part in the Lenten pilgrimages on the island.
In the scope of the SER ROMEIRO NOS AÇORES E NAS COMMUNITIES initiative, promoted by this Association with the purpose of paying homage to all the pilgrims in the communities and especially to António Tabico, a symbolic homage to this well known emigrant was held last Wednesday, April 21st, at the Living Museum of Franciscanism. The event was transmitted live through our Facebook page and is still available for those who didn’t have the opportunity to watch it and for those who want to watch it again: https://www.facebook.com/AzoresEmigrante/videos/1448066285546944
In the Homage to António Tabico were present, to whom the AEAzores wants to thank, the Regional Director of Communities, José Andrade, the Mayor of Ribeira Grande, Alexandre Gaudêncio, the pilgrim and President of the Movimento de Romeiros da Ilha de São Miguel, João Leite, Tony Camara, son of the honoured that marked his presence online and the President of the AEAzores, Rui Faria. This was a moment that included a few brief words by all present who praised the person of António Tabico, as well as his actions made in life. To commemorate this important moment, AEAzores offered a plaque in honour of all the pilgrims in the communities, especially António Tabico, which will be placed in the Praça do Emigrante.

    <section class="elementor-section elementor-top-section
