Since the 18th century, the socio-cultural and demographic dynamics of the Azoreans on the coast of Santa Catarina, Brazil, has deeply contributed to the shaping of the cultural patterns of the region. The Azorean Studies Centre of the Federal University of Santa Catarina, created in 1984, has the purpose of carrying out research on the Azorean culture of the settlers who came from the Azores.<\/p><\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

Being a research and investigation pole about the Azorean culture in the State, the Azorean Studies Center also develops a community work that reaches all the Santa Catarina coast with courses, lectures and cultural mapping for teachers. Having created the Azorean Cultural Festival of Santa Catarina, the Nucleus of Azorean Studies works in partnership with more than 40 municipalities of the Santa Catarina coast over an area of 15,000 square kilometres, affecting a target public of more than 1,300,000 people.<\/p><\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

As a tribute to the Azorean roots in Santa Catarina, and praising the magnificent work of the Azorean Studies Centre, the Azorean Emigrants Association, in July 2021, had the honour of awarding this institution with the Azores Thousand Islands Prize, on the occasion of the first edition of the event with the same name, which aims to honour institutions and personalities that raise the name of the Azores among the Portuguese communities.<\/p><\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
