Have you ever heard of a man named John Philip Sousa? He was an American composer and band conductor and was known as King of the marches! In addition, he idealized the Sousaphone instrument that later received its name in honor of the conductor!<\/p>

He was born in the USA in 1854 and died in 1932. His mother was German, and his father was of Azorean origins! With his own band, between 1892-1931, he performed 15623 concerts and in 1900, his band represented the United States at the Universal Exhibition in Paris!<\/p>

One of its best known marches is the Stars and Stripes Forever March and by an act of 1987 from the United States Congress, it is the official National March of the United States of America!<\/p>
