The Department of Art & Design<\/strong>, along with the Saab Center for Portuguese Studies at UMass Lowell<\/strong> are proud to present an exhibition of artwork by selected students<\/strong> from the Spring 2022 study abroad trip to the Azores Islands<\/strong> on March 8<\/strong> (Wednesday<\/span>) from 5:30 p.m. until 8:30 p.m<\/strong>. in Moloney Hall, University Crossing<\/strong> (220 Pawtucket St Lowell, MA 01854, USA<\/span>).<\/p>

The photographs are part<\/strong> of a visual exploration done<\/strong> during a course entitled ARTS.3982 Study Abroad \/ Photography in the Azores<\/span><\/strong>,<\/span> conceived and organized by Anna Isaak-Ross and Pavel Romaniko<\/span>.<\/p>

The students researched the origins of the Azorean diaspora in Lowell, Massachusetts, as well as the heritage, histories, and culture of its people.<\/strong> They then used their findings as a springboard for photographic exploration of four islands in the archipelago: S\u00e3o Miguel<\/span>, Faial<\/span>, Pico<\/span>, and S\u00e3o Jorge<\/span>.<\/strong><\/p>

The photographs featured in the exhibition<\/strong> are by<\/strong> Erin Nelson, Courtney Coviello, Nathaly Mateo Pena, Michael Page, Lisett Cordoba Pren, Bryan Fernandez, Jack Hannibal, Erin Kerr, Bryan Fernandez, Kassy Tiburcio, Kathy Le, Lara Ansaldi, Anna Isaak-Ross, Pedro Letria, and Pavel Romaniko.<\/span><\/p>
