COOPERATIVA CELEIRO DA TERRA, is a Private Institution of Social Solidarity, which develops its main activities: the production and commercialization of biscuits, jams, liqueurs, local handicrafts and tourism. The food products are made with local raw material, fruits harvested in the fields and vegetable gardens of the municipality of Povoação, made in a traditional way, with the knowledge of our ancestors, giving a unique flavor originating from our roots. Our handicraft is certified by the Regional Center of Support to Crafts, valuing techniques used and the quality of our products. The institution has the operation of a tourist shop in the furnas, where the products of the cooperative and all its members are promoted.
The loquat Liquor of Cooperativa Celeiro da Terra was awarded the silver medal in the 8th National Competition of Conventual and Traditional Portuguese liqueurs.
This contest took place in Santarém and had as main objective to reward, promote, value and divulge the convent liquors and traditional Portuguese liquors, genuine and exclusively produced in Portugal.
For 20 years Cooperativa Celeiro da Terra has been doing work to improve and enhance its products, maintaining the traditional methods of confection of them, and the taste of the Azorean ancestors.
Since 2016, the Cooperative has been awarded every year in 2016, the Tangerine Liquor was awarded in the same contest with the gold medal in the category of citrus, in 2017 the milk liquor received the silver medal, in 2018 the Coffee Liquor wins the Gold medal.
