Portugal and Brazil have maintained over the centuries, a unique historical relationship, strengthened in the nineteenth and twentieth centuries by the great migrations of Portuguese to that country in South America. In order to study and understand this phenomenon and to give an indispensable contribution and largely, definitive to his knowledge, CEPESE – Population Studies Center, Economy and Society – developed from 2005, the project Emigration from Northern of Portugal to Brazil, which integrated a wide research team coordinated by us.
