A practical guide for returning to the azores

This guide is an initiative of the Regional Directorate for Communities, which is addressed to the Portuguese natural citizens of the Azores, in deportation proceedings for the Autonomous Region of the Azores and who are in detention centers in the United States and Canada.

It is intended that this guide is a useful tool to address issues and many questions often raised by those citizens, mostly unaware of the reality of life in the Azores since they emigrated with their parents as children and they have never visited the country.

Through the returning citizen’s guide content we can get a sense of geographical and administrative environment policy of the Azores, as well as all the organizations and institutions that provide services and support to citizens in various areas, including legal documentation, social protection, health, education, employment and investment, housing, transport, civil protection and other useful information about the host country and the region.
