Our mascot

Shearwater (Calonectris diomedea), a migratory bird, is the symbol chosen by the AEA founding members to represent the Azorean Emigrants/Returnees.

Shearwater arrives in March to the Azores and from there departs towards the south in September, to return again in March and again to leave in September, like the Emigrants/Returnees who, returned to the motherland, never stop thinking about the land of adoption. Nor do they stop thinking about the motherland when they are in the land of adoption.
